Hey, all you wind addicts:

May, is a great time to get away since it is the beginning of the low season in some destinations and not yet the opening of the tourist season in other areas. Our suggestion for the month of May is British archipelago Bermuda with its windy world famous pink sand beaches and multiple scenic coves.

Bermuda:

Bermuda is a British overseas territory with subtropical climate and one of the most affluent economies in the world. Most first-time visitors think of Bermuda as one island, but in fact it's an archipelago and very wealthy archipelago!

The world famous pink sand beaches of Bermuda are truly spectacular. But it not the only distinguished feature of the place. There are over 100 very closely located islands in Bermuda archipelago and they are yours to discover if you are up to island hopping adventure . You can discover small inhabited islands, out-of-the-way coral reefs, and hidden coves. The coves and bays are perfect for slalom sailing and bump and jump and OHH…… so beautiful. Go to Bermuda in spring and fall for the best wind. Particularly, in May you can get wind from 16 to 22 knots.

Windsurfers, don't bother bringing your own board to Bermuda. Tourists are not allowed to rent cars and buses and taxis won't transport boards. When booking your hotel, ask if they have windsurfing equipment and suitable spots to windsurf nearby. Most hotels include equipment for free in their room rates.

Check these water sports shops in Bermuda: Blue Hole Water Sports located at the Grotto Bay Beach Hotel and Windjammer Watersports operates from Cambridge Beaches Hotel . Their gear is not the most updated but very well maintained.

Kitesurfers you are more flexible since you can carry all the gear on a rented moped. There are two great kitesurfing beaches you should consider: Somerset Long Bay Beach and Elbow Beach. Somerset Long Bay Beach located at the end of the West cost of the Island is really quiet, with a lot of space to spread the kite and to launch. Elbow Beach not so far from Long bay is another good alternative. There are no rentals available for kiteboarding so kiters bring your own equipment!

Bermuda is an expensive place to go but not if you know where to look for a deal. Check for Bermuda 1 week packages (flight and hotel) at Tripcentral.ca The deals (from Toronto) starts as low as $520 per person (all taxes included!). If you are not from Canada simply find a cheap transfer flight to Toronto.

Do not be alarmed by No Car Rental Policy of Bermuda. The bus network covers all major routes with the stops at all hotels and restaurants. One of the most scenic ways of getting around Bermuda is the government-operated ferry service which is a remarkable excursion all of its own.

Even if you plan to spend all your precious Bermuda time kiteboarding or windsurfing on the pink sandy beaches, try to schedule at least a half-day to check out great British fortress called Royal Naval Dockyard or to explore magnificent tunnels and chambers of Crystal Caves with their crystal-clear subterranean lakes.
